I’m sad to say that the detox is over…. NOT I’m so stoked to not have to figure out how to put something I already have together in some new baller way for something that I needed to look good for. I did learn that you don’t need something new to look great. You just need a little bit of creativity and some friends with great taste in clothes. It is nice to have the option again though. I also learned to use my skills and fix or refashion my clothes that I already have. I even made a few little things over the semester. I think I’m a lot more money conscious when it comes to buying things I “want” and purchase more things I “need”. I also noticed that I wore more of my nice staple pieces much more than my fast fashion pieces. I did do a lot more things to my hair and makeup though. I had bangs, ombre, and even red hair. I also played around a lot with different makeup looks. I guess that was my creative outlet. I even became a little more health conscious so the pieces I did have would look better on me. That might be a little vein but isn’t most of fashion?
I’ve been trying to get things in order for my big move this summer. I’ve sold literally all the things I can sell and it’s a little depressing that Rockstar and Roger gives you about no money for your clothes. I didn’t really have time to think about anything besides the clothes I’m currently constructing. This week wasn’t too challenging but you better believe as soon as I get to San Diego I’m GOING SHOPPING!
I’m really not sure what week it is. I know we’re almost done though!! I’ve actually gone through my closet and sold a lot of my pieces I really don’t need anymore. Something I didn’t think I’d be doing. I thought I’d hoard all of my clothes until I could shop again, but that’s just not the case. So thanks for the extra cash I guess!!
I love online banking. It’s banking for people who are bad with numbers or just don’t care to balance checkbooks. I fit both of those. I normally buy a bunch of clothes and then the days following I get more and more nervous of over drafting or there just not being any money there. I usually procrastinate as long as possible (till I feel some form of stomach turn) before I check the low number that is my cash pool.
This week I felt the stomach turn and finally checked it. There was about $300.00 more in my account that I thought there was going to be. WHAT?! Holy yes!! I realized that I haven’t been buying clothes so I’ve been saving a lot more with out even trying. It’s a wonderful, wonderful thing.
There is almost one month of school left and I can’t believe it. I’ve gone a whole semester with out really buying anything. I’m to a point where it’s kind of annoying me when I see something I like but it doesn’t bug me not to have it. I’m moving to San Diego this summer and definitely see a few things I want here and there but before that I need to go through my closet and see what I want to keep and what I should sell before I go buying new things. I’ve recently realized that I have WAY too many clothes, like, it’s BAD. It’s not necessary to have the amount that I do for any reason I can think of, so, that’s my latest project.
I spent all week in studio which is probably a good thing. I just received a rather large check from working all spring break and normally it would probably be mostly gone by now. I also noticed that when I bought something I really actually needed (socks) I was shocked that I was going to pay $11.00 for 10 pairs of socks. Normally, I wouldn’t have thought twice about it but now that I’m not actively purchasing things It seemed like a lot. I’ll be interested to see how much this is true after the thirteen weeks.
I took some time off from posting because I was swamped with school. It’s been a rough time the longer I go and the warmer it gets to avoid purchasing cute items for the warm weather. Specially since I went through and got rid of a lot of my older pieces before I even knew about this project. Oops.
I luckily didn’t have too hard of a time with spring break because I worked so much over break and a mystery package arrived from my grandma with two dresses that she thought looked like me! I’m pretty much savoring those babies as much as possible! I think I’m going to try and DIY a few things from my winter wardrobe so I have some things I need for the heat!
This past week has been a little crazy for me. I had three all nighters this week for classes and ended up driving home for the weekend to surprise my dad at the last round of sub-state his team was in. I basically was either sleeping or spending time with my family so, not a whole lot of time to think about clothing. However, tomorrow the VP of the clothing store I work for will be visiting for a few days and I’d really like to have gotten a few things to make a good impression. I really would like to get a job at corporate styling and working on the blog so I’m going to have to really try and revamp some other pieces to really wow.
This week I used a lot of pieces I was considering selling for outfits. I was just tired of them and thought it was time to get rid of them. Instead I mixed a few new things with dresses and socks to give it a new look. I also had a rough patch. I went to target to get some things I needed and thought I’d just look at the shoes. All my flats are all pretty much ripped to shreds so I had a pair in my basket for the longest time and finally put them back after walking around for a while. Thank you detox.
This week wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. I was stuck at home sick in bed all weekend and I kept finding things online that I liked and then realized I couldn’t buy them! I also had something to go to Friday and I normally would have probably gotten something new for. So, instead I just mixed a few things I had and thought it was fine. I also realized that now that I can’t buy shoes I find SO many that I want and even ones on sale IN MY SIZE that I want. It’s pretty frustrating. All in all, it went pretty well though! 11 more weeks to go!
